looong weekend

late post today. Chris worked a normal week last week, then his company has a new client so they worked all weekend, and now it is mon and back at he goes like it is another normal week. :(
I know it is awful to say, but I feel as though I have been working this whole time too! I have been sooo tired by the end of the day, with Chris getting home late, or getting right back to work when he gets here. Anyway, hopefully things will get back to normal around here, in the meantime here is what we have been up to.

cool video

Did any of you see the post that Rifle Paper Company did about Blair Sliger?
He designed part of their storefront and recently Grain and Gram did a sweet little movie about him and his work.
To learn more about him, check out Rifle paper company's blog, or the interview by grain & gram here.

If When we move back to the East Coast, I would love to get him to do some work for us. This is assuming we buy a house and then it needs something...? Either way, enjoy and Happy Friday!

I want a pair.
However, the practical, low-heeled ones are well, ugly. Anything with 2" or more are much cuter and come in anything from boots to maryjanes, but are not, well practical. For me anyway. I can't see myself chasing a 1 1/2 yr old around the house in these. So for now they will just have to be pretty to look at.

All pairs, BC Footwear, except middle pair is Jeffrey Campbell --> I think I like those the best!

I just love this picture of Paul and Linda. You can just tell the two of them were so in love, and had such a beautiful family. I feel sorry for John after she died, I guess picking the right mate was harder the 2nd time around.

Tipi Tepee Teepee

I always loved all of the tee pees that so many people have for their kids; and before Oliver was born, I often thought it would be nice to make one to have for my impending little one. The other day I got an email from my mom that only re-ignited the desire to just make one already! I even have a book I bought long ago that has the complete DIY..no excuses.

The images above were the ones in the email from my mom. It was actually about the Northern Lights. Amazing!

And of course, there is plenty of inspiration around the web:

Of course Stella has one...

PS the boo and the boy is a great blog. Be sure to check it out.

One more reason I shouldn't have cancelled the cable!

I know this has been circulating the blogs, but it is the perfect way to kick off the weekend: with a good belly laugh.
I know I, for one, am ready to retire.

Thanks miss b and hustle.

vintage summertime

I love the look of these girls. Something about the vintage 60's dresses, the hair, and bright lipstick are exactly what I want to be seeing right now!

just what I was going to say...

..so I just re-posted it. Thanks to babble via Say Yes to Hoboken. While I still pretend to be up on all the latest trends, I think I might as well admit (as a mom) fashion is sometimes the furthest thing from my mind. It is definitely is hard to balance both, especially on one income. While I know the last sentence is not a revelation to anyone, I might as well admit my true self, as evidenced here, here , and here.

I really want these "city slouch trouser jeans"!!

Wow, really?

Did any of you see this? I can't decide between "that's so clever!" and "why?"...

This USB typewriter was invented by a gentleman by the name of Jack Zylkin from hive76. Apparently, if you put sensors on the typewriters crossbar, the action from the typewrite translates to your computer. huh. To read more about it, go here.

On another note, in case any of you wondering if I got one my Christmas presents, I did! And man that is a workout. Partly because you are trying to dance like MJ or one of his backup dancers, and partly because you are laughing so hard. I think every single person in my family tried it on Christmas. We were dying. I felt wearing the glove was important for getting into character. ;)

How cool would it be to take some time and cruise around the country in one of these? And I am not even the camping type - but this is just beautiful!

The New Year

I have seen all of the other blogs that recapped the writers year and then all of the things that they are looking forward to in 2011. This isn't one of them. Not that I am down on any of that. As a matter of fact, much of what I have read really made me think and be grateful for what I have. I am just not in the mood to write about it now.

We had such a lovely trip back East, and believe it or not, the 4 + hour plane rides each way with an 18 month old were not all that bad! I couldn't wait to get to the beach, see family and eat good food! After all, it was Oliver's 2nd Christmas and I was anxious to see how it would go.
Yet as the trip came to a close, I was (in a weird way) happy that it was over - the stress of traveling with the little guy now a thing of the past, knowing I was going to sleep in my own bed again, and seeing my dogs made me feel happy. After the excitement of Christmas, (and my birthday) it's always a bit of a let down. But I think that is natural.

Hope everyone had a safe and fun Christmas and New year. Here's to 2011!

* My parents rent a beach house for Christmas so that all of my siblings and I can be together - now with our spouses and kids!
